If a person gets injured in a train accident and is hospitalized for more than 30 days, the government bears the entire expense. However, the amount spent on treatment is reimbursed after completion of 10 days of hospitalization or after the patient is discharged.

How much compensation do you get from Railways?

Railways gives compensation up to Rs 2 lakh in case of injury in a train accident. If a person becomes disabled in an accident, he gets assistance up to Rs 7.5 lakh. At the same time, there is a provision to give compensation up to Rs 10 lakh to the family of a passenger who lost his life in a train accident. To apply for claim, one has to visit the official website of IRCTC. Here, details of passengers traveling in the train have to be given, which includes train ticket and ID card etc. Railways has to complete the investigation within 15 days after the application. When all the documents are verified, the claim is sent to the bank account of the person applying.
